Because Baby H was born during the first Covid pandemic lockdown of 2020 - he's one of that special generation of 'quarranteenies' as I like to call them - his newborn photography session had to be virtual, via video call. With the disappointment of missing out on a studio newborn photo shoot, his mummy and daddy were determined to capture his 1st birthday portraits perfectly.
Thankfully, the 3rd UK lockdown ended just in time for us to schedule a very slightly delayed 1st birthday Cake Smash Session for him in April and I was able to meet in him person at last in my Wiltshire studio.

When did you last update your family photographs? It's so important, especially when babies of this age change so fast! We started celebrating Baby H's special first year with beautiful images of his little family bubble before moving onto the cake smashing fun!
Every one of our Cake Smash Sessions is individually designed and crafted for your baby. Baby H's beautiful cake smash theme was inspired by his mummy and daddy's rustic autumn wedding, with some tweaks to give it more of a Springtime feel. The beautiful 'Chinese lantern' flowers add a wonderful pop of orange, his mummies favourite colour!
His beautiful semi-naked cake (by my amazing cake maker Sugar Wish Cakes and Bakes in Salisbury) added to the rustic feel. He did love the icing!
Celebrating the most special of milestone birthdays, your baby's very first trip around the sun!
Baby H soon got to work smashing his cake with a little help from a wooden spoon!
Every little one reacts to their cake differently and explores it in their own way. Most babies don't eat much cake, it's more of a sensory play experience than a feast! There is usually at least a chunk of intact cake for you to take home and enjoy later.
Oops, there goes the cake! One of the joys of Cake Smash photography is the chance to capture all your baby's little details and expressions as they are engrossed in exploring their cake.
There's always a chance for mummy and daddy to enjoy the cake too!
Then it's time for the splash - my beautiful miniature roll top bath is perfect for your baby to enjoy bath-time in the studio.
Once we've finished with the cake smash part of the session, it's time to enjoy a relaxing bubble bath and wash those sticky fingers and toes. Baby H even brought along his own special bath-time duck to play with too!
At the end of your baby's Cake Smash session it's time to dry off and go home for a lovely nap. Smashing that cake can be hard work!
