'Wild One' 1st Birthday Cake Smash

When this little man's mummy suggested a Wild One theme for his 1st birthday cake smash session I couldn't wait to design the set! This theme is loosely based on the popular children's book 'Where the Wild Things Are' by Maurice Sendak in which a little boy called Max dresses up in his wolf costume and goes on a jungle adventure to meet the Wild Things. Find out more about our range of Cake Smash & Splash themes here or get in touch to check availability for your child's 1st, 2nd or 3rd birthday here.

Baby E's Session began with some classic portraits in our white studio. He is already a confident walker, so jumping on (and off) the bed was great fun. He also loved out little wooden studio mouse!

In the book, Max is crowned 'King of the Wild Things' so we incorporated a gold crown and use gold one letters as part of the cake smash set. Greenery gives a jungle vibe too! These letters are such fun to play with.

Next it's time for the cake! This design features some of the arrows that Max shoots when he's playing in the book, along with green jungle leaves. Sharon, the cake maker at Sugar Wish Cakes and Bakes is amazing at designing bespoke cakes to match any theme. Baby E really enjoyed eating that icing one off the top!

And so the messy fun continues! Sticky fingers, icing covered toes and your baby's many expressions are all captured during your cake smash photo shoot, while your baby is happy and engaged.

Baby E was walking for his session which gave him even more scope to play with his cake - and sit on it!

He's too adorable!

Once the cake smashing is done we move onto a much needed vintage bubble bath or the 'splash' part of the session. Baby E loved playing with the bubbles both in and out of the bath.

He even tried some one legged acrobatics to reach them! Once all the sticky icing was washed away, it was time to cosy up in a big soft towel and get dry.

Cake Smash & Splash Sessions are fast paced and fun, with lots of different activities and experiences to keep your baby engaged and enabling me to capture their huge range of sweet expressions.
